As much as he can be a self centerred person, his departure would the organisation big time.

This does concern me...I think his ability to find those diamonds in the rough is invaluable. We've been the class of the league for so many years and Jim Popp has been the architect of this organization. A team like the Redskins would do very well to have him in their fold. But would Mr. Popp really want to be anything less than a GM or head of football operations?

I'm surprised if there's any issues behinds the scenes. If so, let's get them solved. After such an amazing 2009, I'd hate for this to be the team's undoing.

I like Herb using a ''CFL western-based source'' Herb is digging shit again...there is no source...he don't like Popp and Popp don't like him nothing is happing right now around CFL/Alouettes and he's probably trying to make a story out of this...

Like Trestman was supposed to go down south 15 times..never happened! ;) ;)

Well, according to the article, Popp's house in Montreal is up for sale and he has no contract extension worked out with the Als. In the end, all this may just be a negotiating ploy but it's not inconceivable to see why an NFL team might be interested in Popp's talent locating skills.

I'm hoping that it doesn't come to pass because I don't see any Popp protege being groomed as his successor. Trestman or Smith would have to take over if he leaves.

I think you have it wrong West coast, Desjardins would take over, Smith should not ever be the GM, ever. Interim it woudl be Desjardins, soemone else could be selected later on. But i do agree with you, it may be a ploy. Zeke has known for a while that Popp's house was for sale, and he even said there was not much to it at the time. Z likes to hype the news, got to love that. he made us talk Als football in the middle of a Habs dream post season, now that is a feat.

*********************************

I will resume this quickly:

Does he wants to be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in an ocean ?

We'll see....thsi is not the 1st time this year that Popp is the main news for Als...probably leveraging the media for negociation....
