So who's coming to BC next week?

Postby West Coast Als Fan » 19 Nov 2011 14:50

The big game is a week from tomorrow out here in BC (we had a little snow on Thursday but it's gone now and the sun is shining as I type) So who's coming out here, when are you arriving and where are you staying? If possible I'd like to meet up with you for a bevvy or three. We don't get many Als fans out here (I could count them on the fingers of one hand a couple of weeks ago at BC Place when the boys came to play) and it would be nice to hang out with people who aren't all Roughriders or Lions fans. Some of you I've met previously but many others I haven't so let me know.

The "MontreALS Huddle" will be taking place at the Venue nightclub on Granville Street between Robson and Smythe on Saturday at 4pm. Tickets are listed at $20 (they were only $15 the last time they staged it here in 2005, albeit at a different club a block down the street) but as usual there is nothing on the Als' website advising people how to purchase them. I'll be there and I hope all of you who are coming West are there as well.

Even though the Als aren't playing I still can't wait.

I would love to go!!! But whitout the Als it's another story...I'm curious to know: How much does it cost a week-end in Vancouver for the Grey Cup? Whit the hotels, plane, restaurants and game tickets. Just to know approximately... Maybe i'll come next season for the game!

I was hoping to win that contest to go to this year's Grey Cup, but it wasn't meant to be. Had the Alouettes made it, I was ready to spend the $$ to head out there. But with no Alouettes playing, I'll save my cash for next season.

Mum Yash, maybe next year we can get a bunch of people together for a trip out west! Westjet always has sales to places like Vancouver, Calgary, etc....Hotwire has hotel rooms pretty cheap and I know enough people on Twitter who can help us secure tickets to other stadiums.

I was thinking Regina to see the Riders play the Alouettes and see their tailgate. But I am not opposed to Calgary or Vancouver as well.

We'll see what happens when the 2012 schedule comes out. I am still hoping for the game in Moncton to be played, but it's not looking good and even then, the Alouettes still may not be playing it.

I'm going, Section U2, HG_robs, Colonel & Private Ryan from T.O (the guys in Red Overall) ....I know at least 3 other fans that are not on this board who are going on their own dime. For me, we'll hook up at the Huddle, i'm getting there on Saturday morning & have scheduled the league TweetUp on saturday 3:30 to 6pm IIRC.

For the Als Huddle, the price has been 20$ since '06 in 'peg IIRC, but it was 20$ in CGY & EDM the last 2 years.....not sure how the turn out will be but I expect something similar to 2007 where the Als weren't in the show & interest dwindle.....

See ya next week....

I'm there for approx 36 hours for hotel (200$), plane (1300$), game tix (300), Als Huddle ticket (40), food & beverages, it's going to be at least 2000$ for me & girlfriend.....

I'm sad to say that after 15 consecutive years of attending Grey Cups, we won't be attending this year :triste: With the Als not being in it AND my best friend(who always joins us) being very sick, we decided to bow out. We'll resume for the 100th next year. To all who are going, have a great time and represent us well :)

I'm in! Would be very nice! In septembre we have the fan train(i whish in TO), so it should be before or after. I think after is better, like in octobre whit the race for the playoffs. Or in the summer time whit warm wheater. I'm anxious to know which team it will be...

Not so bad... it's about a gran each! I know the feeling to spend a thousand and half in 36 hours i did it last week in Sacacomie up north. I had a good time but maybe i should put that money for the Grey Cup too! I hope Next year... :wish:

Well depending on how early you get downtown on Saturday you might arrive in time for the parade, which goes down Burrard Street from 10am - noon on Saturday. The Huddle goes from 6pm - 9pm but the other hospitality suites (pretty much all of them are at the convention centre except for the SOE which is at the Sheraton - same place as in 2005) will be open around 1pm or so. I have to work late on Friday so no Vanier Cup for me. I'll go downtown early Saturday.

By the way, we now have a Dunn's here in Vancouver (just opened a couple of weeks ago at 827 Seymour Street, about 4 blocks from BC Place) and it's open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

If anyone needs any info while in town just PM me and I'll give you my cell number.

Hi,
I'm new to the board - but a long time Als fan,
and I'm also new to Vancouver (Just moved here a few weeks ago) - walking out of BC place wearing my Als jersey after the slaughter wasn't easy...

but I did manage to get a ticket to the big game next week..

If my schedule permits I will be checking the party at the Venue nightclub.
According to the grey cup festival tickets will be available at the door only.
Anyway, if I do make it to the 'Venue', I'm Chris and I'll be wearing my Als, game used Jermaine Copeland jersey.
be sure to say hi!

I'll be watching for you Chris. I'll be wearing a 1970's vintage jersey with Peter Dalla Riva's #74 on it. I expect to be the only one in the bar wearing one although I do know one other person who has one. I'm just not sure if he's coming to BC or not.

I don't like leaving things to the last minute and I wish I could get a ticket to the Huddle earlier. Back in 07 the tickets were mailed to me before I left town for Toronto. But I'm going downtown early on Saturday so I'll head over to the Venue and get mine as early as possible.

I'm going too... with a friend of mine... arriving Saturday morning... and we'll be going to the Venue as well, for sure... had fun last year in Edmonton... one of the band that played there was pretty good, I think they were from Vancouver... AC/BC... guess what they were playing :)

I think the Rider Nation's party is having Chilliwack... sounds like good fun...

For the game... we'll be in section 201 and 203... although I'm still trying to get another ticket in 201 at a decent price...

After the game, I'm heading to Whistler for a few days of skiing... viva El Nina...

Well, work kept me from getting to the party at the Venue.
I hope it was a good time.
I didn't go to the Vanier Cup tonight, but I did go down to check out the Fan Fest.
It was great seeing so many fans from so many teams...
too many Riders fans tho! So much green.

I hope everyone who is in town is having a good time.
