Stade Experience Sept 11

Postby Chuggabunch » 13 Sep 2011 13:54

Hey folks. It's that time again for off field random observations Chuggabunch style.

Well once again the “Trailgate” party was a success. It's starting to pick up steam yet people need to understand it is not a private party. C'est pour tout la monde. Extra entertainment was provided by the bike race that shut down Park Ave. I was hoping Claude would feel competitive and jump on his BBQ bike and join the race ;). Crazy view seeing all those cyclist come around that hairpin at the bottom of Park Ave. A couple of Ti-Cats stopped by which was cool. Oh yeah fair warning. That couple from Hamilton are coming down with a bus load of fans for the Oct 23thrd game and said they will be there for the Trailgate. Next Sunday my brother has plans on bringing his mini speakers with classic football music to give the party that little extra. So long as that's ok with the Trailgate executives. He was the Renegades DJ so he knows what he is doing and want's to contribute the best way he knows how.

I like how they strategically place the beers guys at the top of the stairs just as you enter the upper South side section. Almost a little to convenient. The beer girls in our section are just wonderful. Tiffany & Emily, service with a smile. I'm sure there will be more conversations with them in my signature “Franglais” :P . They think it's funny, but I'm not sure if they are laughing at me or with me. Either way good times and great service.

The merchandise stores keep getting better. It took me three years, but I finally found the jersey I've always been looking for. The Tony Proudfoot retro jersey. I'll probably be the youngest person wearing the name Proudfoot on my back. Though I never saw him play, I always admired all the things he did off the field. One example comes to mind. Today is the 5 year anniversary of the Dawson college shooting. Guess who jumped in to help with the aftermath of a terrible event. Yeah that's right, Tony. :bravo: I will wear this, the only jersey I own, with absoulute respect & a whole lot of pride.

The opening ceremonies commenced with The Minstrels of Hope from the Philippines. They did an amazing job performing America the Beautiful. They also sang the National Anthem and sounded great . I tried singing along but they did it in an unusual key so it was difficult. I like that. When groups perform a song their own style yet not changing it too much. Fine line to balance with such a performance. Whoever booked them, great find.

I had a great laugh when Anwar Stewart spanked, literally spanked, Avon Cobourne on Hamilton’s opening series. “Who's your daddy now Avon”. :D Sure Stala did that douchebag move with the water bottle :dw: but I noticed Eric Wilson step in and pull London aside. Who knows what was said, but it was going to stop right there. I wonder if Trestman took Wilson aside and made him the unofficial police man of the team. Not only does Wilson keep opposing teams honest, he seems to do it with his teammates too. Kudos to him. I don't think I could sit through another penalty filled debacle again. :3bang:

Cool to see the promotional family zone has become a success. Staring at the section on the home opener was sad. However since the Habs will be back in action soon, I think we all know what that means. To the very back of the bus and newspapers Als fans. It'll be interesting to see what Mr. Lalonde has planned to keep the attention & attendance rolling. :wish:

The Halftime show was fun. They brought in the Milford Mill Academy Spartan marching band from Baltimore, Maryland. I'm a huge fan of marching bands especially when their play list is a cool mix of past and present tunes. After the game they set up just beside the South exits and played people off on to the streets. Excellent idea and cool location for a final performance. :bravo:

It's seems to me we have a hard time getting the wave moving along the stands. It's starts then it dissolves fairly quickly. What happened to the golf cart T-shirt cannons? I might be blind but I haven't seen them in awhile. Firing free stuff in to the stands always gets people going. As always, I half to mention the Subway toss game. Congrats', we did it. We are now 2 for 5 on the season.

Cheers to those of us in section V2 who do the “1,2,3 Move Those Yard Sticks !!!” action/chant. It's hilarious when someone waves in the wrong direction on the first down. I think whoever waves in the wrong direction should be penalized by chugging a beer. Mind you it's probably the beer that clouded their judgement to begin with. :lmao: Peanut man made an appearance. They shut him down 2 years ago due to potential peanut allergies. This I totally understand, but man he was entertaining.

Shout out to SectionU2 for hooking me up with one of his “Birds of Prey” t-shirts. Unfortunately I would need to gain 60 more pounds for it to fit. I passed it along to my brother who is most thankful for the gift. Cheers man!!

So it's was a great day on the Mountain once again. Crossing paths with all of you was a pleasure as always. The win and the weather definitely made my stadium experience a blast. :bravo:

Till the next time, keep your heads up and bring on the Bombers.
If it's too loud, your too old!

Great Job Chugg....I also got quite the chuckle out of Anwar giving "Deuces" a little love tap. That's right Avon, you and the rest of the Ti-Cats will be spanked from here on out.

My mom and I got to the Stadium late, woulda liked to show her the Trailgate. Next time I will leave Gatineau at 7am and get there nice and early! I miss living in Montreal, but don't miss the traffic & construction.
