Wake-up call: Stala’s favourite slap in the face

Dave Stala came over to shake hands with Ticat legend Angelo Mosca on Thursday and got a slap in the face for his trouble.

The Ticat receiver had just finished his final on-field session before Friday’s game against Edmonton and stopped by to shake hands with Mosca, who was at Ivor Wynne to plug his new autobiography Tell Me To My Face.

Stala had barely enough time to get the word “congratulations” out of his mouth before Mosca began chastising him for squirting water at an Alouette receiver during the Ticats loss last week.

“What are you doing? I thought I talked to you about that stuff,” Mosca said. “When you’re heated, you don’t get even that [expletive] way — you knock somebody on their ass.”

Whap, Angelo’s big paw came across Stala’s mug.

“Thanks, I just needed a little slap,” Stala said, laughing. “That’s why I came over.”

But Stala, despite the slap, remains one of his current favourites.

“You’re still a hell of a football player,” Mosca told Stala as they finally shook. “I wouldn’t do that if I didn’t like you. Like a lot of these kids, you just need a kick in the butt.”

Dave Stalla diserve it!!! It's been a few games that he is looking for trouble. Each time he plays against us, he try to be shown on tv or making us talk about him... well it works. I think he found the right place in Hamilton!!! You guys know why?

Stala est frustré. Il doit surement estimer que l'équipe pourrait faire mieux et voudrait y contribuer davantage. Peut-être trouve-t-il que son numéro n'est pas annoncé assez souvent dans le caucus?

Une chose est certaine, c'est qu'effectivement, ce genre de comportement semble devenir plus fréquent chez lui. Curieusement, ses performances ne sont pas aussi reluisantes non plus. L'oeuf ou la poule?
