Well I notice you didnt sign it!

I have mixed feelings about this
If its an away game...Im all for it
If we lose a Home game....not so much

However a few friends and I have discussed heading down if the Als play

Ro,

i read some tweets from fans who also have the same opinion as you...

Personally I don't care if we lose a home game especially if it's to promote the Als out East...

I did sign it, but it shows me 0 signature....weird...

I signed it and quite frankly don't care if it means losing a home game. We'll be the home team regardless. If the Alouettes are playing, I will attend this game come hell or high water.

It looks like such a great atmosphere and I've been told the entire weekend's like a mini Grey Cup, so you know that it`ll be an awesome party.

That is true....Earlier this year Jim Popp did a little Q&A on Twitter and one of the 5 questions I got to ask him (say, does that count as an interview?) was if he had interest in participating in TD Atlantic. He said that he was interested so long as the Alouettes were the road team so as not to lose out on a game in Montreal.

I see both sides of the coin here. Let's hope for the best...and if it's Alouettes-Roughriders, watch out!

This year's game between Calgary and Hamilton wasn't a sellout and it's only the second or third time they've played out there. Perhaps Moncton isn't the Promised Land some seem to think it is. I still say that if and when a team comes to the Maritimes it has to be located in Halifax, the only city in the region of any size. There may also be the possibility of Halifax and Moncton sharing a team like how the Packers used to play some of their home games in Milwaukee, but Halifax needs to be part of the equation for a team to work out there.

Bring back Ottawa, put an expansion team into the Maritimes, move the Blue Bombers back to the Western Division and you've got yourself a great, 10-team league that goes from coast to coast.

That's not a terrible idea....make it strictly a regional team in name (like how it was supposed to be the Atlantic Schooners) and establish that it belongs to the entire Maritimes so that all of PEI, NB, NS and NL gets behind it.

West coast the problem is, only Moncton moved in trying to make it happen, and Moncton is not that removed from the regional maritime population, Halifax is in no position to get a stadium currently (politicaly and financially), who ever will make one will have a high probability to get the team.

Well that's the thing about that region. They technically already have a franchise and have had it for probably 20 years now. The only things missing are someone to own them and a place for them to play. If not for the lack of these 2 ingredients the team would already be playing.

I don't know why there isn't someone with money who wants to make this happen. Canadians just don't have the same entrepreneurial spirit that Americans have. No one in this country ever wants to put any of their own money at risk. They're always waiting for a government grant. In the Maritimes you've got companies like McCain and Irving, either of whom could easily own a team and get a stadium built but nothing ever happens. It's frustrating and I don't even live there. I know that a team could work there and while my preference is with Halifax, I'm not fussy. Just get a team in there so we can have a 10 team league.

Well lookie here. It seems that Jan Carinci is also touting the idea of Moncton and Halifax sharing a franchise.

Moncton will be pressing Halifax to do something, for which the city has dine nothing in 40 years to happen, they had 40 years to build a stadium, they refused to bid for the commonwealth games which would have given them funding from the Feds. So dream on yo get Halifax, the good thing the Moncton moves has done was to get Halifax pissed off, finally they will repair their current crumbling stadium where st-mary's plays but the plan is still too small 15k they need 25k

I agree. There is absolutely no point in wasting money on a football stadium that will only have as many seats as Le Colisee in Quebec, a hockey arena that was deemed too small for NHL hockey. The Als weren't making money at Molson Stadium before the renovation even though it was always sold out. If not for the ability to host playoff games at the Big O they'd be in the red every year and might not be around by now. Still the capacity before the renovation was 5000 more than what they're proposing in Halifax. No CFL team can make a dime unless they have a stadium which seats 25,000 or more. If they're willing to finally consider building a venue there, how much more could it possibly cost them to add another 10.000 seats and make it CFL-ready? The short-sightedness of Haligonians never ceases to amaze me. They wouldn't spend a dime to see an earthquake.
