Horse collar tackle

Postby ro1313 » 24 Sep 2011 22:21

Anybody watch the Bombers Argos tonight?

Twice the Argos got called for a horse collar tackle when the tackler had one arm around the waist and the other on top of the shoulder pads.
Furthermore, the ball carrier fell forward.

I dont see either of them as horse collars
Thoughts?

I only saw the 2nd half of a choppy online stream so I can't say for sure. From what I saw, that game was wacky all around. So I could imagine anything or nothing could have been called on every play. There are many calls or non-calls we could argue but untill we are on the feild we will never know how hard it is to keep an eye on everything. However a horse collar when the player lands forward is bizzare for sure.
So many injuries tonight and 5 Qbs saw action along with ending on a Rouge, wow. Only in the CFL.
I wonder if a better job refing tonight could have reduced the amount of injuries. Hhmnnn. Maybe a coralation between sketchy calls and injuries.
Just my thoughts.

On obtient notre 2ieme, ça pourrais etre un drôle de match, pierce et reid blesser. AC probablement sur le sideline. Ça va probablement etre un match défensif vu la maturité des QB.
hmmm nothing like the smell of victory, to the grey cup, Prepare to be boarded you bilge rat!!

In the Bomber section of CFL.ca The fans are up in arms over WPG getting called for interferance on a loose ball.
Owens flubbed a punt and it bounced in to the endzone. The Wpg players tackled Ownes and jumped on the ball in the endzone for what they thought was a TD....nope!

I've been doing some reading this morning from various web sites. There was a whistle in the stands, missed calls or no calls, some who don't understand the game yet are now experts and plenty more.
So much happened during this match.
If I were an agent or a GM I would let new or potential players watch this game as an example. When the term "football sense" is brought up, this game would be a true pop quiz. Let the newbies sit and watch and see how much they pick up and understand.
This game was a perfect example of what can happen in the CFL. Sure, most players have played football their whole life but how much do they really know about our game and the craziness that is out league.

A random yet relevant question: What is the difference between a rule and a regulation?
Regulations make the game.
Rules control the game.

My brother and I watched the game. He wanted WPG to win for his friggin' CFL Pool! I had to remind him that being within two points of the division leader was more important than his stupid RONA picks!!

what a guy...

That is why I always pick who I want to win...not who I think will win

That also explains why I "$uck" :p-lesdents:

I also picked 'peg over T.O.....but when T.O. won, I was thinking to myself this is a chance to be where we belong: ON TOP OF EAST DIVISION this friday !

That game was also brutal injury wise for 'Peg: both RB's are out for season, reports say that their 3rd QB might start this week...

Sure they were a dominant force in 2/3 of season, but injuries caught up to them.... luckily we had ours at beginning of season and guys are now coming back in roster...

I'm not a horse racing fan, but one of their biggest sayings is, "It's not how you start, but how you finish." All our remaining games are winnable. If we can just stay healthy, we can overtake WPG. 13-5 is a VERY lofty goal, but 12-6 again is doable. Hell, even 11-7 would probably win the division (we'd have to beat the Bombers twice in the 'Peg to do so).
