Running backs don't have a long shelf life in football...especially ones in their 30s. And I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to back up Brandon Whitaker.

WOW,

I didn't see that 1 coming at all......statement on Ti-Cats website

Regarding the release of Avon Cobourne, O’Billovich said:

“We spoke with Avon following the addition of Martell Mallett to our roster to determine what course of action he would prefer. After speaking with him again today, we are granting Avon’s request to be released. We would like to thank Avon for his outstanding contributions to our team last season and wish him all the best in the future.”

I thought that after Glenn being traded, with "Boo"rris in town, I thought Cobourne was safe...

So if Avon asked for his release he probably has a backup plan.....but I highly doubt we will see him in Montreal unless he takes a DRAMATIC pay cut.....

Well good luck to HIM !

guess here is your answer W:

As Per TSN:

Meanwhile, Popp did not rule out bringing Avon Cobourne back to Montreal, even if the team is happy with Brandon Whitaker at running back.

Cobourne was released this week after one season in Hamilton, where he signed as a free agent after helping Montreal win consecutive Grey Cups.

"Never say never," said Popp. "But we went in a different direction with Whitaker last season.

"But there's always a possibility. Avon was a great player for us."
