Clinch vs Winnipeg?

Postby Alswin » 17 Oct 2011 11:13

Does anyone know if the Als can Clinch first place next week with a win over the Bombers? They'll have a 4 point lead with two to go. I'm not sure what the tie break is.

YES, we can clinch the division if we win vs 'Peg, since the series is now 1-1.

a) has won the greater number of games played against all member Clubs of the
League, then
b) has the higher winning percentage in all games played against all of the other
tied Club(s), then
c) has scored the higher net aggregate of points (i.e. points scored for less points
scored against) in all games played against all of the other tied Club(s), then
d) has scored the higher net quotient of points (i.e. points scored for divided by
points scored against) in all games played against all of the other tied Club(s),

Check page 7 (easier if you search tie-breaking in the PDF)

We got the same scenario in 2006 where T.O. was tied for 1st but since we won the season series, we got the East Division final at home.

Well it's a moot point now. The defence fell apart in the fourth quarter, took stupid penalties, gave up big plays and managed to lose a winnable game and the season series. Now if they're to clinch first place, they'll have to beat Calgary and BC (on the road)

Looks like we're playing the Eastern Final in Winnipeg this year.

2 games left....yeah they have the tie-breaker...but it's still a possibility we host the Final !

It's simple we need 1 more win than them ;)

Thank goodness Calgary usually plays poorly at PMS...Hopefully Toronto can give us a hand. I mean, we never beat them too badly! They can do us this solid.

We need to win our next IMO, and hope they drop one. Winning in BC will be as usual next to impossible for us.
