CFL "Pink" / La LCF en Rose !

Postby XGamer » 02 Oct 2011 12:00

After much discussion, fines & vocal comments from fans & players last year, the league finally instated a week where players will be able to wear pink to show their support to find a cure for Cancer.

The info is here: http://cfl.ca/pink - (CFL PINK” are games the weekend of October 21-22)

But at my great disappointment, the ALOUETTES are NOWHERE to be found on that page ?

Why ? Please don't tell me the Alouettes don't want to participate in this AWARENESS !

Given the cancer history in the Calvillo family, I was sure the Alouettes would be the 1st team to say : yeah WE'RE IN ! (and other player & members of Als organisation probably had a relative or friend who had to battle with that disease !)

Now looks like we won't even participate in this awareness/"fundraising" event....

Who do I need to SLAP in the administration office to fix what I consider a MAJOR MISTAKE ! :3bang:

*****************************************************

:3bang:

Hopefully the Alouettes step it up as well, even if their "pink" game is on the road.

The problem is at the league office level. Instead of saying that teams are free to do (or not do) as they please, this campaign should be a league-wide initiative as it is with the NFL. That way, all teams would be involved. Really, how much would it cost to outfit players with some pink sweatbands and towels?

But yet again this was a missed opportunity for the Als, who's marketing department has been consistently dropping the ball lately.

Check the cap the coaching staff will be wearing Saturday.....

http://www.cflshop.ca/store/W79696-MTA% ... L+Pink+Cap

The Canadian Football League will help tackle women's cancers by playing special "CFL PINK" games the weekend of October 21-22. Reebok is providing CFL players with pink gloves, wrist bands and other items. Players will also wear a special decal on their helmets. CFL officials will use pink whistles, and coaches and other team personnel will wear sideline gear adorned with pink.

Still no word on the CANCER charity the Alouettes are ''sponsoring'' for the event..... :(
