Cahoon retire

Postby Trestman@Godsright » 14 Jan 2011 21:59

This news was floating around for couple days but Cahoon will not return in 2011. Looks like he will retire or play with another team but won't be back with Alouettes.

We are not there yet.
I will wait until we hear it from him rather than "A reliable source"

I saw it, that is where I got the "reliable source" part.

It says he is expected to retire.
When BC anounces it then I will believe it.....and be very disapointed BTW

LaPresse is reporting that Popp has not heard of any decision and that the door is open to play, he under contract in 2011.

Let's keep a clear head here....

we all know that Ben will retire...exact date we don't know....

Writing has been on the wall for a while....personally we don't want to hear it but it will happen....

The day Ben sits down & annonce his retirement, I will support his decision....I will be sad like many others but the guy will leave the way he wanted !

As for Herb Z's reliable source...well...not that I don't trust them, but I want to hear it from Ben itself !

Last time herb's source was AC concerning Ben returning ;) he is usually pretty reliable.

I am pretty sure he is a free agent. But regardless, he can retire even if he is still under contrat

Cahoon has legitimately been contemplating retirement after each of the last few seasons. He bases that decision on how he feels during the off season.

He either retires or plays in Montreal. I highly highly doubt he moves to another team... but we'll know for sure in a few weeks!

But if he is in the option year...he cant play for another CFL team...and there has been speculation on that as well

That is correct, it is the teams option, they choose to pick it or not, clearly Popp is picking it.

I wouldn't be surprised if he retires this year but I would be shocked to see him go to another team to end his career, I really don't think that's on the table right now.

I'm in the minority when I say I wouldn't be very upset when BC retires, he's a phenomenal player and the AC/BC connection has been amazing but something tells me his heart wasn't in it as much in 2010 as it has been in the past.

Cahoon angrily denies retirement plan talk, admits interest in coaching career

http://www.cjad.com/blog/AlouettesNews/ ... D=10193315
Alouette future Hall of Famer Ben Cahoon vehemently denies published reports he has told some of his teammates he's retiring. Cahoon in a CJAD Exclusive from his home in Utah, says he has not told a single player, nor GM Jim Popp or Coach Trestman about any such plans to step away from Montreal.

But Cahoon admits his "interest is piqued" by a job opening at his alma mater BYU.

Brigham Young's outside receivers coach has just accepted a job at Purdue, which would create a potential dream job for Ben.

Both Cahoon's former Head Coach at BYU and his former teammate Chad Lewis (a retired NFL All-pro who won a Super Bowl with the Rams back in '99) have told CJAD 800 in recent months that Ben would be an ideal coach at his former college.

When told of Barron Miles' possible interest in returning to Montreal as a defensive backs coach should that job be offered, Cahoon immediately wise-cracked: "If Barron's coaching in Montreal I'd definitely come back to play one more year."

Miles and Cahoon broke into the CFL in 1998, under head coach Dave Ritchie, known to unforgiving with rookies.

L'espoir est toujours là. J'ai parfois l'impression qu'il veut s'assurer que Calvillo va être de retour avant de faire une annonce.
