Less than a week after his farewell to Montreal, Ben Cahoon has seized opportunity as sure-handedly as he caught a CFL record 1017 passes.
Cahoon has been hired to coach the receivers at BYU, his alma mater. The future Canadian Football Hall of Famer told CJAD first that he was interested in the job opening when it came up on head coach Bronco Mendenhall's staff.
Cahoon retired after 13 seasons with the Alouettes and 3 Grey Cup titles. He was a 10-time Allstar.
"I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to coach at my alma mater," Cahoon said. "I am so grateful for the chance to play professional football in Montreal for the past 13 years, and now I'm looking forward to this new challenge as I enter the coaching profession. I plan to approach coaching the same way I played, with consistent effort, determination and hard work. I love BYU. I love what BYU stands for. I'm honored to be a Cougar."
Cahoon's rise to stardom parelleled and went hand in hand with Anthony Calvillo's climb in Montreal since 1998.
Cahoon had been a team captain at BYU after walking on for a tryout in 1995
