Aside from the Spirit of Edmonton, which always does their party at the Sheraton, most of the other team events will be taking place at the Vancouver Convention Centre so it will be very similar to what we saw in Toronto in 2007 where most of the hospitality suites were all under one roof. There are advantages to this. First of all, if the weather is lousy you don't have to get cold and wet going from one party to another. Secondly, there will likely be a centralized coat check.
The bad news is that unlike previous years, most of the suites (aside from the SOE) have cover charges. Riderville and Tiger Town will both be $20 while the Lions Den will cost you $15. I don't remember having to pay to get into these places before and hopefully they don't rape us on the beer once we're inside. Looks like there will be some decent bands playing as well. Barney Bentall and Colin James will both be playing the Molson party room (also at the Convention Centre) and Chilliwack will be playing at Riderville on Saturday night.

The Als Huddle will be taking place at the Venue Nightclub on Granville Street. Cost is 420 and it says that tickets are available at the door but if anyone knows how to get hold of them in advance let me know because I don't want to risk it selling out and not being able to go. The club is a converted movie theatre so it's got some decent interior space, however. It's certainly roomier than the Roxy down the street where the Huddle took place back in 2005.

I'll be staying 2 nights (Friday-Saturday) at the Sheraton Wall Centre on Burrard St. so I don't have to commute. Call it a "staycation" I guess. So who's all going, when are you arriving and where are you staying? There are always precious few Als fans at western Grey Cups so let's get together.
